ABAL lunch with Ryan Bond
Amcham has the immense pleasure in welcoming Ryan Bond to talk about ESG Please join us for this luncheon.
What is ”ESG” and why should you care?
ESG (Environmental, social, and corporate governance) is an approach/methodology used to evaluate and manage the extent to which a corporation, government or any other institution works to ensure they have imbedded social and environmental considerations and goals into their management rather than simply focusing on maximizing profits or other more narrowly focused objectives. This methodology approach was first developed in the United States and now has become a global trend as people and institutions become more aware and concerned about social, environmental and other types of “responsible” objectives associated with building a better world for the future. Properly done, ESG can help companies, cities, governments and other institutions become more “successful and sustainable” on a long term basis by moving the strategy and goals of these institutions beyond short term profits.
Since ESG is becoming more and more important and imbedded in regulatory practices and investor concerns, we want to help our members to understand what it is all about so they can make sure their companies and institutions use it to be more successful and better appreciated for doing social good without destroying shareholder value.
