Dear AmCham members,
As we approach the end of the year, it is traditional to pause and reflect. This year, no one can ignore how the world changed on February 24 when – unprovoked and unjustified – Russia furthered its assault against a sovereign Ukraine by launching a brutal, full-scale invasion. It can be difficult to enjoy the holiday season this year, knowing this horrible attack on Ukraine and its people continues.
As we reflect on the past year, we take some comfort in witnessing the unfaltering solidarity and unity among countries, organizations and individual people in Luxembourg, the United States and across the globe in response to Russia’s war against Ukraine. This year has underscored the significance of values and the important role we all play in creating a more peaceful, more secure, and more prosperous world.
This year has also not been easy for businesses. I am grateful to the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Luxembourg for continuing to champion American business interests and for supporting the relationship between Luxembourg and the United States in areas also beyond business. It has been a great pleasure to meet many AmCham members in person during my first year in Luxembourg and I look forward to working closely with AmCham in the years to come.
I wish everyone a peaceful holiday season!
Sincerely,
Tom Barrett
U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg
