Two weeks ago, our chairman Paul Schonenberg spent the better part of a week in Athens, Greece joining ACE, the American Chambers of Commerce in Europe for a Best Practices Sharing Conference attended by Chairpersons, Presidents and staff of this federation of American Chambers of Commerce in Europe, along with the presidents of AmCham Thailand and AmCham Uzbekistan.
Every European country has an American Chamber except for Belgium, which hosts two: one accredited for the country and one accredited to the Commission of the European Union. This ACE organizations used the occasion of the Greek visit to celebrate its 60th anniversary of existence with a Gala dinner and a three-island tour of three ports of call in the Greek Islands.
Within Europe, ACE is pleased to have 17,000 member companies belonging to the AmChams located in each of the European countries. This membership employs 20 million workers across Europe, 1.1 trillion Euro in investments and 5.5 trillion Euro in annual sales on both sides of the Atlantic. It is a significant organization making major contributions to the wealth and prosperity of each of the EU countries with a powerful connected network recognized as the most powerful business lobbying organizations dealing with the European Commission.
AmCham Luxembourg is as active in ACE as our resources allow and particularly pleased to be one of 5 AmChams who fund the annual AmCham EU Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment report. We are likewise pleased our new Government Relations Management Committee (GRMCOM) will be able to work in partnership with the GDRMCOM of AmCham EU.
