In September 2022, the European Commission announced the Relief Package, a new set of EU-level relief measures for SMEs. One of the measures included in the Relief Package is the revision of Directive 2011/7/EU of February 16, 2011 on late payments, in order to provide businesses with a more modern legal framework that is better adapted to the challenges of the current economic context.
To mark the occasion, the Chamber of Commerce and its Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) launched a survey on late payments in Luxembourg. The survey, to which 255 companies responded, showed that late payment is a problem that affects Luxembourg companies, not only in their B2B relations, but also in their interaction with the public sector.
