Spreading Joy to Thousands: Gifts for Kids Program Brightens Holidays for Children Across Luxembourg
This holiday season, the Gifts for Kids Program continues to light up the faces of thousands of children across Luxembourg. With a tradition steeped in generosity, this initiative ensures that every child experiences the joy of receiving a gift on Saint Nicholas Day.
Since 1996, the American Women’s Club of Luxembourg (AWCL) has been involved with the Gifts for Kids initiative by raising funds, coordinating the purchase of selected toys and delivering them to children living in group homes or foyers on Saint Nicholas Day. This annual volunteer-run charitable campaign collects children’s gift wishes at a maximum of €25 per gift.
In 2023, due the generous donations, AWCL was able to deliver 1,453 gifts to 85 foyers across Luxembourg. Due to increasing requests for help across the country, our goal in 2024 is to expand our reach, spreading joy and creating special St. Nicholas memories for as many children as possible. This is only possible due to the continued generosity of our volunteers, school and corporate sponsors and individuals who donate funds.
Stefan Schoos, Social Worker at Hëllef um Terrain (HUT), commented on the impact of this initiative by sharing “The gifts offered by your association to children, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, have a profound impact on their well-being and happiness. They bring not only joy, but also a feeling of inclusion and care, which is essential for their personal and emotional development.”
How To Support Gifts For Kids Initiative
Corporate Sponsorship – Our corporate sponsors are the backbone of the Gifts for Kids Program. We partner with corporations around Luxembourg by supplying Giving Trees with individual gift “wish list” ornaments for employees to make a donation via bank transfer or Payconiq. It’s a wonderful opportunity for teams to spread joy together this season. AWCL will take care of all of the logistics.

School Sponsors – An amazing way to spread the giving spirit at schools. AWCL provides the Giving Trees and ornaments for students to be able to choose a gift “wish list” ornament to sponsor.
Individual Giving – Everyone has the opportunity to participate in the Gifts For Kids initiative, it is as simple as making a donation via credit card, bank transfer or Payconiq. This year we are accepting donations globally. One €25 donation will cover the cost of a gift for a child but any donation amount is welcome. Every contribution makes a special impact in the lives of children across Luxembourg.
