NEW YEAR RECEPTION 2024
POLITICS
Politics in Luxembourg in 2024, much like the previous year, played a significant role. At the start of the year, AmCham sent an open letter to the government. AmCham analysis and recommendations regarding the ten initiatives of greatest interest to the AmCham membership, such as strengthening the attractiveness of Luxembourg for the business community and expat population were further presented by our different AmCham committees to George Mischo, Minister of Labor; Gilles Roth, Minister of Finance; and Lex Delles, Minister of Economy.
- In February, the Town Hall meeting on Social Elections 2024 took place. In that same week our newsletter featured interviews with the Presidents of the major trade unions: Patrick Dury, National President of the LCGB, Nora Back, President of the OGBL and Roberto Mendolia, President of ALEBA.
- In June, another Town Hall meeting was held to shed light on the European Parliament Elections. AmCham sent out three questions to all Luxembourgish candidates.
Between these key political events, we also conducted several interviews with prominent Luxembourgish politicians, gaining valuable insights into the country’s political landscape and the issues shaping the upcoming elections. Additionally, we featured expert commentary on Luxembourg’s work permits for third-country nationals, shedding light on the complexities of the new immigration policies and their impact on the workforce one year in.
- The political year ended with the U.S. Election debates, covered in our newsletter titled Questions and Answers about the U.S. Presidential Election.
COMMITTEES
- The RTD (Research, Training, Development) Committee kicked off the New Year and brought together a diverse group of professionals, each contributing unique perspectives to the discussion. The meeting delved into several key topics, focusing on strategic planning for the upcoming year.

- In March, the RTD Committee hosted the inaugural episode of the AMCHAM Luxembourg Learning Series. This engaging and enlightening panel discussion by Mina Koksal on “Demystifying Coaching” left us with valuable takeaways.
- In July the Amcham Tools4Lux committee co-sponsored a ”Pension Planning” event kindly hosted by our partner and esteemed Corporate Member LALUX Assurances.
