Leo is currently a student in a 5IEC class at the International School Michel Lucius. He is interested in business and investing. He is pictured with his internship supervisor, Sonja Holper – Sales and Marketing Manager.
AmCham recently had the opportunity to host a work experience student from the Lycée Michael Lucius for a week.
Lycée Michel Lucius has been providing a high quality education to secondary-school aged students for fifty years. In response to Luxembourg’s fast evolving, highly cosmopolitan and international population, Lycée Michel Lucius created an English language international stream in 2011 which has since grown into a diverse and high quality International School that serves approximately 850 students, representing more than 70 nationalities.
We asked Leonardo his thoughts about the experience.
AMCHAM: How were you received?
Leo: I was very well received and everybody inside the office was very nice and very kind.
Were you clearly instructed what to do and have you been taken care of?
I was clearly instructed what I had to do and easily understood the tasks that had been set for me.
Did you get all the support you needed?
Yes I got a lot of help from Sonja to make the PowerPoint and I also got help from Miriam with the feedback to know what I had to do to improve.
Were your tasks varied? Which task did you like best and why?
From my tasks making the PowerPoint was the one I liked the best because it was helpful for me to learn how the company functioned.
Can you tell us what is the purpose of our Chamber?
The purpose of the Chamber of Commerce is to help companies link with other companies for networking, and also to organise events for people to network.
What differentiates us from other Chambers?
I don’t necessarily know what other chambers do and how they could differ from AMCHAM, but the facts say that AMCHAM is the largest one in Luxembourg and most known.
Would you like to work again for AmCham?
I would like to work for AmCham again because working for them was very interesting and I got to do very interesting things like attend a business meeting with someone important.
What could we ameliorate next time?
The only thing that could’ve been done better was clarifying the working hours better.
What will be your next steps?
My next steps will probably be the same as before working here but now I have learned what a company like this does so it might affect some decisions later in life.
